A Foundation For Lasting Change
Our Board & Train program provides your dog with an immersive, hands-on training experience built around consistent, structured daily work and meaningful progress. It’s an ideal option for owners who have busy schedules, need additional support with their dog’s training, or want to establish a stronger foundation to build on.
While your dog works closely with your trainer throughout the program, you remain an important part of the process. The goal isn’t simply to train your dog for you, but to help you better understand their needs, communication, and training so you can confidently carry that progress into everyday life together.
Inside The Board & Train Program
Your dog will stay with the trainer for a several weeks, completely tailored to their individual behaviour, temperament, needs, and your long-term goals. Through consistent daily training, clear communication, structure, and purposeful repetition, we work to build reliable behaviours and establish habits that can carry over into everyday life. Every dog is different, and training is adjusted to meet them where they are while building a strong foundation for continued progress.
Foundation & Engagement
Building skills every dogs needs to succeed, including marker words, leash manners, engagement, clear communication, and appropriate exposure to new experiences.Â
Decision Making Skills
Applying training in everyday situations to help your dog remain responsive around distractions, develop neutrality around dogs and people, and demonstrate appropriate manners in public.Â
Daily Training + Enrichment
Training routine is balanced with walks, mental stimulation, rest, and exposure to different dogs, people, environments, and public settings. Your dog can have approximately four training sessions a day. This structure helps develop focus, confidence, and the ability to settle between activities.Â
Reliable Obedience
Develop obedience beyond the basics through the skills such as extended sit and down stays, out-of-sight stays, and recalling off distractions. Training progresses according to your dogs understanding and ability, with an emphasis on reliability, responsiveness, and following through on commands in increasingly challenging situations.Â
Owner Handling Sessions
Owner handling sessions are a mandatory part of the Board & Train program. These sessions give you the opportunity to work directly with your dog alongside your trainer, learn the skills being developed, and understand how to maintain consistency once your dog returns home. Handling sessions can take place at your home, where your trainer brings your dog to you, or at the trainer's location. The goal is to ensure you feel confident handling your dog and continuing the training beyond the program.
Continued Learning
Your dog can participate in group classes during their Board & Train stay, providing opportunities to practise skills around other dogs and handlers in a structured setting. Upon completion of the program, you'll also receive complimentary group classes to help you continue building on your dog's progress and strengthen your handling skills.
Planning Your Dogs Program
Every dog comes with different needs, challenges, and training goals. The duration of your dog's stay and the training plan will be discussed during your initial phone consultation to ensure your goals are clearly outlined and any behavioural concerns are properly addressed. This allows us to determine the most appropriate approach for your dog and establish realistic expectations for the program.
